General Questions
| What is Canadian Minimum Wage in GovDocs? | Canadian minimum wage is now part of your GovDocs Dashboard. View current wage rates by province or territory, track your Canadian locations, and receive notifications for upcoming changes using the same workflows you already use for U.S. compliance. |
| What is changing with this update? | The GovDocs Minimum Wage solution now includes all Canadian provinces and territories. You can view current wage rates on the map, add Canadian locations to your program, receive notifications for upcoming changes, and export Canadian data alongside your U.S. locations. |
| Does this affect my U.S. minimum wage data or settings? | No. This update adds Canadian support to the platform. Nothing about your U.S. functionality, locations, or notifications has changed. |
| Do I need a separate product to view Canadian minimum wage rates? | No. All customers with the Minimum Wage product can view Canadian jurisdiction data on the map and location-specific requirements after adding Canada locations to the program. Wage Rates

| Where do I find the current minimum wage rate for a Canadian province or territory? | Once your Canadian locations are added, you can select a province or territory to view the current rate and effective date on the Minimum Wage map or on the Locations tab. You can also view rates directly on each location's detail page. |
| How often do Canadian wage rates change? | It varies by province and territory. Many provinces update rates annually, with varying effective dates, Some update in April and May, while several others update in September and October. The Dashboard reflects the current rate for each jurisdiction, and you will receive a notification before a change takes effect once your locations are added. |
| I think a rate in the Dashboard is incorrect. What should I do? | Contact your CSM or submit a support request. The GovDocs Compliance team will review and confirm the correct rate |
| What is an Annual Adjustment, and will I see it in the Dashboard? | Several Canadian provinces tie minimum wage increases to an annual adjustment formula, often based on the Consumer Price Index or inflation. When a jurisdiction uses an annual adjustment, the Notifications tab will reflect the upcoming rate change and the Dashboard will update to the new rate once it takes effect. You'll receive a notification ahead of the effective date so your team can plan accordingly. |
Gratuities & Tipped Wages

| Is tipped wage supported for Canadian locations? | Yes. If tipped wage is enabled for your account. The tipped wage field is accessible for all Canadian locations. It is only populated for Quebec, which is the sole Canadian province with a statutory tipped minimum wage. |
| Why does Quebec show a tipped wage but other provinces do not? | Quebec is the only province where employers may pay tipped workers at a lower cash wage under their Employment Standards Act. No other Canadian province or territory currently has a separate tipped minimum wage, so those fields are not populated elsewhere. |
| What does "Gratuities" mean in the context of the location detail page? | The Gratuities field reflects jurisdiction-specific requirements about how tips and gratuities interact with minimum wage obligations. For Quebec, this includes the tipped wage requirements. For other provinces, this section includes requirements related to service charges, tip pooling, etc., when applicable. |
| Can employers in other provinces count tips toward minimum wage? | No. Quebec is the only province where employers may pay a lower tipped minimum wage. |
Covered Employees & Covered Employers

The GovDocs Compliance team maintains the relevant definitions for each province and territory, and they surface on each location's detail page, so you have the right information for each worksite. |
Overtime Rate & Requirements

Pay Transparency & Salary History Ban

Some Canadian provinces have enacted pay transparency laws that require employers to post pay ranges in job postings or provide pay information on request. Others have enacted salary history bans where employers are prohibited from inquiring about an applicant's previous pay at other jobs. The location detail page shows the applicable law for each jurisdiction where these requirements exist. |

Where pay transparency rules and salary history bans exist for a jurisdiction, the relevant information will appear on that location's detail page. Recordkeeping Requirements

| Do I need to track recordkeeping requirements myself, or does GovDocs do that? | GovDocs surfaces the applicable requirement for each location in the Dashboard, so your team has easy access. Your organization is responsible for implementing and maintaining compliant records. The Dashboard is a reference tool, not a recordkeeping system. |
| Do recordkeeping rules differ across provinces? | Yes. Provincial employment standards set recordkeeping obligations, and they vary in terms of retention periods and required data. Review each location's detail page for the jurisdiction-specific requirement. |
Permissions & Access
| Who can view Canadian minimum wage data on the map? | Any user with access to the Minimum Wage solution of the GovDocs Dashboard can view Canadian province and territory data on the map once Canadian locations have been added to your subscription. |
| Who can add Canadian locations? | Adding Canadian locations requires a location add-on. Contact your Customer Success Manager to get Canadian locations set up in your account. |
| Will Canadian locations be added to my account automatically? | No. Canadian locations need to be added by working with your Customer Success Manager. |
| Is there a deadline to add Canadian locations? | There is no required deadline. That said, many Canadian provinces update minimum wage rates in the fall. Getting your locations added before October means your team will be set up to receive notifications ahead of those updates. |
Workflow Questions
| How do I add Canadian locations? | Contact your Customer Success Manager. They will work with you to add your Canadian locations to the Minimum Wage platform. |
| Will I get notified about Canadian wage changes the same way I get U.S. notifications? | Yes. Once your Canadian locations are added. Notifications for Canadian wage changes use the same system as U.S. notifications. Make sure your notification preferences are enabled in Company Settings. |
| Can I export Canadian location data? | Yes. Use the CSV export from your Locations list. Your export will include both U.S. and Canadian locations in a consistent format. |
Troubleshooting Questions
| I do not see Canada on my map. | Confirm that you have added Canadian locations to your subscription. If you still do not see Canadian jurisdictions, contact your Customer Success Manager. |
| I have Canadian locations in my account but am not getting notifications. | Check your notification preferences in your account settings to confirm they are enabled. If your settings look correct and you are still not receiving notifications, contact GovDocs Support. |
| I expected to see Canadian Federal wage rates and they are not there. | Canadian Federal minimum wage rates are not included in this release. These apply to federally regulated industries and are not part of provincial or territorial minimum wage law. However, each province includes a Canada Federal Minimum Wage topic in the location details page and in the Minimum Wage map that provides context around the country's federal minimum wage. |
Technical Questions
| What data source does GovDocs use for Canadian minimum wage rates? | Canadian minimum wage data is maintained by the GovDocs Compliance team and sourced from official provincial and territorial laws, regulations, rules, wage orders, and other government publications. |
| Are Canadian Federal minimum wage rates included? | No. Canadian Federal rates apply to federally regulated industries and vary by sector. They are not part of provincial or territorial minimum wage law and are not included in this release. However, each province includes a Canada Federal Minimum Wage topic in the location details page and in the Minimum Wage map that provides context around the country's federal minimum wage. With that said, organizations in federally regulated industries should track these rates separately. |
| Why does Quebec show a tipped wage and other provinces do not? | Quebec is the only Canadian province with a tipped minimum wage. The tipped wage field is accessible for all Canadian locations, but only Quebec will have a value populated. |
